Senior Software Engineer

Firehole Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a broad range of experience developing both Web and Desktop Applications. The candidate will be responsible for supporting Firehole’s advanced mechanical engineering simulation tools. This is a full time direct position. Applicants must be U. S. Citizens or permanent residents.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience developing engineering, numerical simulation, or other mathematically-intense software using object oriented programming languages like C++, C#.
  • Experience building desktop and web user interfaces
  • Knowledge of software configuration management tools – Subversion preferred
  • Ability to work independently, make smart software development decisions and produce products in an efficient manner
  • A BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Material Science or Mathematics.

Additional desired qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of the Windows API
  • Knowledge of software installation packages
  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency with HTML/CSS, ASP.Net (C#) and JavaScript
  • Database experience (Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL)
  • Knowledge and experience working with of one or more of the major Computer-aided Engineering (CAE) software applications such as Abaqus, ANSYS or NASTRAN.
  • Experience in the aerospace, automotive or wind energy industries
  • Basic IT Skills (e.g. Server Administration, Networking)

Job duties may include some or all of the following:


  • Designing and developing web and desktop based, object‐oriented software modules using C#, ASP.Net and other technologies.
  • Taking design requirements from marketing, engineering and company leaders and morphing those ideas into high quality user experiences
  • Developing, enhancing, documenting, and maintaining software components that are part of Firehole’s products and services
  • Developing e‐commerce applications to support sales
