Senior Research Engineer
Firehole Technologies seeks an energetic, highly motivated individual with exceptional interpersonal skills for a lead role in research activities.
Candidates must have considerable experience and technical competency in finite element modeling and mechanics of advanced composite materials.
Expertise in one or more of the following areas is desired:
- Application of composites in the Aerospace, Automotive, or Wind Energy industries
- Testing/Analysis correlation of composite structures
- Micromechanical finite element analysis of composites
- Structural finite element analysis of composites
- Fatigue of composite materials
- Failure analysis of composite materials
- Rate effects in composite materials
- Advanced FEA methods (e.g. development of innovative element, material, or multiscale technologies)
Job duties will include: Leading research projects, proposal writing, publishing in peer reviewed journals, presenting at technical conferences, and collaborative research with university faculty/staff/students. An MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required (PhD desired).
Lead Software Engineer/Architect
Firehole Technologies seeks a highly motivated individual with exceptional interpersonal skills, an energetic personality, and excellent technical competency to lead software development efforts. Candidates must have considerable experience with algorithmically intense, mathematically complex software applications. Experience developing mechanical engineering software -- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) -- using FORTRAN or C++ is desired. Experience with composite materials modeling is a big plus.
Successful candidates will have 5+ years experience in full life-cycle development of commercial software. Experience should include determining software architectures, development methodologies, and automated testing plans.
Job duties will include: Leading all software development activities, interviewing and mentoring junior developers, converting existing research software to commercial grade software, technology evaluation and selection, developing user interfaces, and interacting with our research engineers and customers.
Composites Engineering Consultant
Firehole Technologies is seeking a Engineering Consultant to support numerous customer programs in the design and analysis of various composite material structures. Candidates should have 5+ years of direct experience with finite element modeling, at least 2 of which performing analysis of advanced composite materials. Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Proficiency with ABAQUS, ANSYS, LS-DYNA or NASTRAN is required. ABAQUS is preferred.
- Experience in the aerospace, automotive or wind energy industries
- Experience performing static and dynamic stress, thermal and failure analyses
- Proven ability to mentor junior engineers in FEA technologies
This is a customer-facing position, thus exceptional interpersonal skills and a proven ability to interact with engineers, designers and managers are required. Some travel will also be required.
Job duties will include: Interacting with customers (both internal and external) to determine design requirement for structures, Transforming design requirements from research engineers and customers in finite element models, Testing Firehole's innovative FEA technology in a wide array of applications, perform correlation of analysis to experimental tests. Structural Analyst
