Firehole Technologies, Inc. (www.fireholetech.com), a leader in advanced composite analysis and simulation, has recently sponsored the University of Wyoming’s SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Mini Baja team. This team, consisting of eight mechanical engineering students, is building a car for the Mini Baja Competition taking place in Alabama later this spring. During competition, the SAE members will compete against one-hundred teams in one of six competitions.
The University of Wyoming has not participated in this competition for several years, thus the SAE team is building their car from the ground up. To help sponsor the SAE team in their quest, Firehole has provided both financial support and mentoring to the team in the structural analysis of their vehicle design.
"Firehole's generosity has been a great help to the design and construction of our project. Not only have they supported us financially, but they have also taken the time to help us with the structural analysis of our frame design. Firehole has a genuine interest the success of UW engineering students," states SAE team member Ashli Babbitt.
"Firehole looks to sponsor and mentor young engineers in any way possible. There is a significant shortage of young engineers in this country and projects like the SAE Mini Baja are a way to get students engaged and interested in engineering. Firehole is happy to invest in our local university programs so that they can develop the engineers of tomorrow," explains Firehole CEO Jerad Stack.
